Roy Weard has been involved with the music business since the late sixties. He started out as a solo performer and later fronted several rock bands (Wooden Lion / Dogwatch / Roy Weard and Last Pos, That Legendary Wooden Lion). As sound systems improved and became more technical in nature his interest broadened to incorporate all aspects of sound engineering. He ran a small sound company in London for a while before moving on to work with more sophisticated systems and larger bands, but this grounding in primitive equipment has given him the ability to produce a good sound quality in the most challenging of circumstances. The list below reflects some of the tours he did.
1979 – 1982 co-ran ‘Sleazyhire’, a small rig operating around London doing sound in gigs like The Ruskin Arms, The Bridge House and The Production Village.
Following a short tour in 1982 as as FOH engineer for ‘The Books’, who were supporting Gary Glitter, he was offered a job with Mike Allen Rental Services (MARS) who were supplying the sound equipment.
